Terms and Conditions for Handyman Services

These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") govern the provision of handyman services (the "Services") by ODD JOB HEROES LTD ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") to the customer ("Customer," "you," or "your").

2. Service Description

We provide handyman services, which may include but are not limited to:

  • ‘Typical’ handyman services, jet washing, joinery, tiling, painting and decorating, flat pack furniture build, small plumbing jobs. From time to time we may undertake bathroom and kitchen refits and outside gardening work such as building or repairing fencing.

  • We do not undertake any work at hight (above 8ft).

  • We do not undertake any structural work, including but not limited to foundation repairs, load-bearing wall alterations, or major structural modifications. We also do not undertake any gas work, including but not limited to gas line installation, repair, or servicing of gas appliances. These types of work require specialized qualifications and licensing that we do not provide.

  • For any electrical work, we subcontract to our qualified electrician.

  • We engage independent contractors ("Handymen") to perform the Services. We act as a booking agent and coordinator between the Customer and the Handymen.

3. Booking and Estimates

  • You may request Services by phone, email, website, Facebook messenger.

  • Whilst every endeavour is made to provide you with an accurate quote, during the course of a job some quotes are liable to change. These changes are normally the results of additional work discovered by the handyman once the job starts.

  • Unless otherwise stated, estimates are valid for 7 days.

  • Additional charges may apply for:

  • Materials (unless otherwise agreed)

  • Travel time

  • Changes to the scope of work

  • Parking fees

  • Fuel

  • A detailed invoice will be provided upon completion of the Services.

4. Customer Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for providing accurate information about the work required.

  • You must provide a safe working environment for the Handymen.

  • You must obtain any necessary permits or approvals for the work to be performed.

  • You are responsible for securing any valuables or fragile items in the work area.

  • You are responsible for ensuring that all furniture, personal belongings, and other items in the work area are covered or removed to protect them from dust, debris, or accidental damage. We are not responsible for any damage to uncovered or unprotected items.

  • All work will be completed in a clean and tidy fashion and we endeavour to leave a property in a clean and tidy manner.

  • You (or a designated representative) must be present at the start and completion of the Services to approve the work.

  • You must provide reasonable access to the work area, including access to utilities (e.g., electricity, water), if required.

5. Payment

  • Payment is due upon completion of the Services, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • We accept the following forms of payment: bank transfer

  • If you are required to pay a deposit, the amount and payment schedule will be outlined in the estimate or invoice.

  • Late payments may be subject to a late payment fee of [percentage] per month or [amount]. We reserve the right to charge interest in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 (if applicable).

  • The Handyman may collect payment on our behalf.

6. Cancellation and Rescheduling

  • You may cancel or reschedule Services by providing us with [number] hours' notice.

  • If you cancel or reschedule with less than [number] hours' notice, you may be charged a cancellation fee of [amount or percentage].

  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule Services due to unforeseen circumstances, such as Handyman availability, weather conditions, or other events beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to provide you with notice and alternative arrangements.

7. Handyman Status

  • You acknowledge that the Handymen providing the Services are independent contractors and are not our employees.

  • We are responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Services, but the Handymen are responsible for the performance of the work.

8. Materials

  • Unless otherwise agreed, you are responsible for providing all materials required for the Services.

  • If we agree to supply materials, you will be charged for the cost of the materials, plus a handling fee (if applicable).

  • We are not responsible for the suitability or quality of materials supplied by you.

9. Warranty and Liability

  • We warrant that the Services will be performed with reasonable care and skill.

  • Any issues or defects with the Services must be reported to us within [number] days of completion. We will, at our discretion, arrange for the Handyman to rectify the issue.

  • Our liability for any claim related to the Services is limited to the total cost of the Services.

  • We are not liable for:

  • Any pre-existing conditions at the work site.

  • Damage caused by faulty materials supplied by you.

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

  • Damage or loss resulting from events beyond our reasonable control.

  • The Handymen are responsible for their own workmanship. Any warranty is limited to the re-performance of the service.

  • We maintain [type of insurance, e.g., public liability insurance]. Handymen are required to maintain their own insurance, and proof of such insurance can be provided upon request.

10. No Guaranteed Completion Dates

  • We do not enter into contracts, whether verbal or written, that guarantee completion of the Services by a specific date. While we strive to meet estimated time frames, various factors can affect the progress of the work, and we cannot be held liable for any failure to meet such dates.

11. Exclusion of Structural and Gas Work

  • We do not undertake any structural work, including but not limited to foundation repairs, load-bearing wall alterations, or major structural modifications. We also do not undertake any gas work, including but not limited to gas line installation, repair, or servicing of gas appliances. These types of work require specialized qualifications and licensing that we do not provide.

12. Indemnification

  • You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms.

  • Your negligence or willful misconduct.

  • Any injury or damage occurring on your property, except to the extent caused by our negligence or the negligence of our Handymen.

13. Complaints

  • Any complaints about the Services should be directed to us in writing within [number] days of completion of the Services.

  • We will investigate any complaints and attempt to resolve them in a timely and professional manner.

  • We are a member of The Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman. In the first instance, any complaints should be directed to OJH Ltd, but where a resolution cannot be made, any complaints can be sent to The Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman.

14. Data Protection

  • We will collect, use, and disclose your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. [Link to Privacy Policy]

15. Governing Law
